Man gets 30 to 60 years for shooting at officer during stop

YORK (AP) — A man convicted of shooting at a central Pennsylvania police officer during a traffic stop captured on video has been sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison.

Twenty-five-year-old Trev Jackson II was sentenced Tuesday in York County in the Nov. 22 encounter outside a shopping center in York.

Police said the officer pulled Jackson over for suspected drunken driving Nov. 22. Dashboard camera video showed the suspect firing times at the officer, who returned fire.

Jurors deliberated for about 4¢ hours in March before convicting Jackson of attempted first-degree murder, assault of a law enforcement officer, and other counts.

Jackson said he is glad the officer wasn’t seriously injured but implored the judge to “give me hope.” His attorney said there’s “a reasonable possibility” that his client will appeal.
