Check forgery alleged of Maryland man
A Maryland man has been jailed on three sets of charges, including forging checks stolen in 2008 from two former female acquaintances, according to state police.
In one criminal complaint, Dante Renard Wiggleton, 44, of Harvre de Grace, forged five of Penny Walker’s checks which totaled $910, police alleged in an affidavit. The checks were stolen from Walker’s home in the 900 block of Spruce Street in the city and cashed during the first week of July 2008, police said.
In a second complaint, Wiggleton allegedly forged two of Danielle Parlante’s checks, one for $230 and another for $100, and cashed them at local banks in June 2008. Police have also accused him of taking $120 from Parlante’s wallet in the 300 block of Center Street.
In the third complaint, Wiggleton has been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle for allegedly stealing Russell Bruce Hollinger’s car from the 300 block of Clayton Avenue in mid-July 2008. The car recovered 10 days later after it was found abandoned in Baltimore, Md., following a a crash.
Charged with multiple felony and misdemeanor counts of forgery as well as two misdemeanor counts of theft, Wiggleton was arraigned last week and committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $65,000 bail.
