Texas fugitive sought for alleged sex crimes caught

An accused sex offender wanted in Texas for violating his bond conditions was nabbed early Wednesday morning by the U.S. Marshals Service in the 2000 block of East Third Street.

Freedom for Dan Burch, 36, ended following a brief foot chase in a parking lot, according to U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane.

Arrested nearly six years ago in Liberty County, Texas, on aggravated sexual assault of a child and related offenses, Burch has eluded authorities since May 2010 when a new warrant was issued for his arrest, charging him with violating his bond conditions, Pane said.

Earlier this month, investigators received information that Burch could possibly be in the area of Bradford County, Pane said.

He was spotted in West Burlington on Jan. 22, but managed to managed to escape.

Upon his capture Wednesday in Loyalsock Township, he was turned over to state police, charged as a fugitive from justice and committed to the Lycoming County Prison.
