Area police busy with thefts from tobacco stores
Two women face misdemeanor shoplifting charges for conspiring to steal merchandise from Smokers Express at 350 Allegheny St. in Jersey Shore, Tiadaghton Valley Regional police allege in court papers.
Ethel Darlene Bower, 42, of 768 Old Route 220, Jersey Shore, and Christine Killinger, 37, of 1457 Memorial Ave., allegedly stole $270 worth of merchandise from the business on Jan. 24.
In a second criminal complaint, police charged Killinger with a second count of misdemeanor shoplifting for allegedly taking $46 worth of cigarettes from the same business on Jan. 26.
Both women have been sent summonses to appear before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley.
At another Smokers Express, this one on South Main Street in Muncy, Danielle Marie Baker, 41, of 927 Arch St., and John Cameron Walker, 26, of 937 Dewey Ave., have each been charged with stealing cigarettes on Jan. 5, borough police said.
Baker is accused of stealing $122 worth of cigarettes, while Walker allegedly stole $11 worth of cigarettes, police said.
Baker is also charged with shoplifting at the same outlet on Jan. 2, when she allegedly stole $41 worth of cigarettes, police said.
While she has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Jon E. Kemp, Walker was arraigned before Kemp and released on $5,000 bail.
