Area woman arrested for stealing jewelry

JERSEY SHORE – A Linden area woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing $14,000 worth of jewelry from the home of an acquaintance, according to the Tiadaghton Valley Region Police Department.

Jessica M. Deparasis, 26, of 1656 Queneshaque Road, is accused of taking the jewelry from Duane and Stephanie Oakes’ home at 310 S. Main St. on Feb. 5 and Tuesday, police said.

When Oakes later questioned her about the missing jewelry, Deparasis admitted in a text message that she took the jewelry and went to Philadelphia with it, police said.

Taken into custody on Wednesday, Deparasis was arraigned before District Judge James H. Sortman on felony charges of theft and receiving stolen property. She was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
