Police: Market Street man assaulted, threatened wife

Upset that one of his children defecated on a bed, Stephen R. Cillo, punched his wife, Dana, “multiple times” on the afternoon of Feb. 17, South Williamsport Patrolman Kevin Grant alleged in an affidavit.

On the next day, Cillo allegedly punched his wife again, this time while she was holding the couple’s 4-month-old son, Grant said.

After the mother put the baby down, Cillo grabbed her by the face and threw her to the floor, Grant said, adding that both assaults occurred at the couple’s home at 327 1/2 South Market St. in the borough.

Dana Cillo told police that in January, her husband “threatened to shoot her” if she ever left him and took the children, Grant said.

When Cillo was taken into custody on Feb. 18, he freely admitted to officers that he “pummeled” his wife, Grant said.

Cillo was arraigned before District Judge Allen P. Page III on charges of terroristic threats, endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault and harassment. He waived his preliminary hearing this week and remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
