Woman accused of stealing more than $10,000 from shelter

WELLSBORO – Elizabeth Neese, 41, of 2565 Spencer Road, Mansfield, was charged by borough police with theft and forgery after she allegedly took checks and used a credit card belonging to her employer.

Neese, who worked at HAVEN on Old Tioga Street, took 10 checks belonging to the organization between June 11 and Oct. 10, 2012, and wrote $9,689 in checks to her husband and daughter, forging her boss’ name on the checks, according to documents filed at District Judge Rob Repard’s office.

Police said she also made 14 purchases valued at $2,694 with the organization’s credit card beginning Aug. 5, ordering home goods from Beiter’s, Lowe’s, Staples and Target to be delivered to her home.

She was issued a summons to appear at a March 19 preliminary hearing.
