City woman accused of shoplifting

Nykeana Lee Hutchinson, 34, of 2613 Dove St., has been charged with misdemeanor shoplifting after she was stopped allegedly trying to steal $397 worth of merchandise from Kmart, 1915 E. Third St., on Jan. 22, state police said.

She also was charged with corrupting the morals of a minor because she had a juvenile with her at the time of the alleged attempted theft, police said.

Hutchinson was arraigned Monday before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman and released on $2,500 bail.

In another shoplifting case, Shawn Paul Zimmerman, 51, of 5451 Route 654, has been charged with misdemeanor shoplifting for allegedly stealing a $19 stun gun from Surplus City, 3365 Lycoming Creek Road, on March 7, police said. He has been sent a summons to appear before James H. Sortman.
