Drugs, alcohol allegedly cause for fight

Both a Loyalsock Township man and his girlfriend face charges following a domestic disturbance in their East Third Street home, state police said.

Suspected of being “highly intoxicated and under the influence of cocaine,” David Matthew Strothers Jr., 31, of 1719 E. Third St., became upset when his girlfriend, Carman J. Gomez, 41, refused to give him money so he could buy more cocaine, police allege in court papers.

Strothers punched Gomez and dragged her across the floor during the early-morning disturbance on Feb. 9, police said. The woman grabbed a knife and started slapping Strothers, police said, adding that Strothers was able to disarm her.

Strothers and Gomez were arraigned later that day before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley. Strothers was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail, while Gomez was released on $7,500 bail. An earlier article that reported that Strothers lived on Fink Avenue in Old Lycoming Township was incorrect.
