Police: Berks County man bought booze for teenagers’ dorm party

A 22-year-old Berks County man has been charged with furnishing alcohol to minors for allegedly purchasing vodka and beer for an underage drinking party that was hosted by a Pennsylvania College of Technology student in her dorm, according to Penn College police.

Anthony Scott Heimbach, of Douglassville, purchased the alcoholic beverages on Feb. 1 for a party that was held later that night in Melissa Trenholm’s dorm on Rose Street, police said. Trenholm had given Heimbach $11 for her share of the beverages.

Others who attended the party also gave Heimbach money for booze

An officer raided the 18-year-old student’s dorm after being tipped off about the party. The officer could hear through the door people “talking about drinking shots,” according to an affidavit.

“Several individuals were walking around inside the lit apartment. I could see them through the thick glass,” an officer wrote in After knocking twice and identifying himself as “police,” an officer was greeted at the door by Heimbach.

The half a dozen others the officers had seen in the dorm room moments earlier had scattered to two bedrooms, police said. A case of beer, with 11 unopened cans, and two bottles of vodka were seized from a refrigerator, police said.

Heimbach was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge James Carn and released on $3,500 bail.
