$3,500 theft alleged

Dale W. Erb Jr., 54, of 440 Freedom Road, faces state police charges after he was caught allegedly stealing $3,500 worth of tools and equipment from Dawn Trucking Co., 350 Fairfield Road, Fairfield Township on Jan. 24.

Following his arraignment before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman on charges of theft and trespassing, Erb was released on $15,000 bail.

Shoplifting alleged

Michael Henry Frederick, 53, of 1715 Blaine St., was charged with misdmeanor shoplifting after he was caught trying to flee Wegmans, 201 William St., with $260 worth of merchandise on Feb. 9.

Following his recent arraignment before District Judge Allen P. Page III, Frederick was released on $1,500 bail.

Credit card stolen

A South Williamsport man has been charged with using a stolen credit card to make $502 worth of purchases at Wal-Mart in Montourville on Aug. 24, state police said.

Jeremy T. Knott, 32, of 352 East Second Ave., was charged with using Cadence Perez’s card within hours after a break-in occurred at her home on Heshbon Road in Loyalsock Township, police said.

Following his arraignment before District Judge Jon E. Kemp on charged of felony access device fraud, receiving stolen property and conspiracy, Knott was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Public urination case

Edward Evans, 48, of 1226 W. Fourth St., was charged by a county detective with indecent exposure after he was caught allegedly urinating on a trash can outside the Lycoming County Court House about 2:40 p.m. on Feb. 25.

Jailed on a probation violation, Evans remains in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $2,500 bail.

Theft alleged

Gregory Charles Georgeson, 30, of 1148 1/2 Market St., was charged by state police with theft by deception after he walked into Kmart, 1915 E. Third St., took a $54 stuffed animal off a shelf and allegedly attempted to get a refund for it on Nov. 27. He has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Gary W. Whiteman.

Police nab driver with prescription drugs

ELIMSPORT – A Northumberland County motorist faces a charge of possession of controlled substances after he was found to be carrying several prescribed drugs without a prescription, according to state police.

The drugs were found on Keith Edward Vrontisis, 35, of Milton, shortly after he crashed his 1996 Mercedes-Benz on Route 44, just east of Mill Road, in Washington Township about 8:40 a.m. Dec. 3, police said.

“In his pockets were a total of 43 pills, eight different prescribed drugs that he had no prescription for,” Trooper Douglass Hoffman wrote in an affidavit.

“He stated that, years ago, he broke his back and that he became addicted to pain pills,” Hoffman said.

The driver admitted taking them from his mother, the trooper said.

Immediately following the crash, Hoffman learned there was a warrant in Northumberland County for Vrontisis’ arrest, charging him with fraud. Vrontisis also was driving with a suspended license.

He has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Jon E. Kemp.

2 men accused of attacking girlfriends

Two men involved in separate domestic disturbances have been charged with simple assault and harassment.

Steven Craig Floyd, 45, of 1893 Berry Ave., allegedly grabbed his girlfriend, Crystal Livermore, by the throat and choked her before slamming her head into a wall twice about 2 a.m. March 30, Old Lycoming Township police alleged in court papers.

Following his arraignment before District Judge Jon E. Kemp, Floyd was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.

In the other case, city police charged Kenneth L. Hill, 51, of 330 Center St., after he allegedly grabbed his girlfriend, Bobbi Smith, by the neck and punched her head and face at least five times in their apartment about 10 p.m. Saturday.

Following his arraignment before District Judge Allen P. Page III, Hill was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Knife found on alleged dealer, police say

An alleged heroin dealer in jail on drug charges faces a new charge of possessing a weapon or implement for escape after he was found to be hiding a “shank,” a homemade knife, in his underwear at the Lycoming County Prison, court records state.

Jailed since late February on charges of allegedly selling heroin to a confidential informant, Harry “Toot” James Thomas Jr., 27, of 224 W. Second Ave., South Williamsport, was caught with “the shank” on March 21 shortly after returning to the jail from a court hearing, according to county Detective A. E. Diaz Sr.

The weapon was found during a strip search, Diaz said. It was unknown if the inmate had the weapon before he left the jail for the hearing.

Thomas was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Allen P. Page III and recommitted to the jail in lieu of an additional $15,000 bail.

Man pleads guilty to harassment; assault charge dropped

In a recent plea agreement before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman, Carl Andrew Diggs Sr., 55, of 155 Phillips Park Drive, South Williamsport, pleaded guilty to a summary harassment charge after borough police withdrew a misdemeanor charge of simple assault.

The charges stemmed from a disturbance in which he allegedly punched his wife at the couple’s home on March 24.

Diggs made arrangements to pay $440 in fines and court costs.

2 accused of shoplifting

Chaddy Renee Hill, 36, of 2612 Dove St., has been charged with felony shoplifting and receiving stolen property after she was caught allegedly trying to steal a $328 television and $8 worth of candy at Wal-Mart, 1015 N. Loyalsock Ave., about 8 p.m. March 26, Montoursville police said.

Hill, who has two prior shoplifting convictions, automatically was jailed that night when it was determined that there was a bench warrant for her arrest.

Following her arraignment last week before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman, she was recommitted to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Also charged with shoplifting at the same store was Kevin Andrew Thompson, 25, of 2119 King St., who was caught allegedly trying to flee with $7 worth of merchandise on Feb. 13. This was a misdemeanor because it was his second offense. He was released on $2,500 bail.
