Newberry Street woman jailed on charges of dealing painkillers

A 44-year-old city woman was jailed this week on charges of selling oxycodone from out of her house, city police said.

Patricia Peluso, 2630 Newberry St., has been charged with felony delivery of a controlled substance, illegal use of a cell phone and making unsworn falsification to authorities.

Police accused Peluso of selling the controlled substance to Dan Polanco at her home on July 19. She allegedly sold one pill to him for $25, police said.

Polanco told police he later “crushed the pill and snorted it,” according to an affidavit.

Polanco told police that Peluso allegedly sold the drug to him on several occasions and that he arranged the sales by calling her on her cellphone.

When Peluso was questioned about the incident, she “purposely lied in a written statement in order to absolve herself from any criminal activity,” police alleged in court papers.

Following her arraignment Tuesday before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman, Peluso was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
