Nonperformance alleged of contractor

A contractor who agreed to install a new porch for an Eldred Township woman has been locked up on theft-related felony charges after he allegedly took $2,800 from the resident, but failed to do the job, state police alleged in court papers.

Frank Emory Wanamaker, 33, of 419 Stevens St., has been charged with theft by deception and theft by failure to make required disposition because he allegedly failed to honor his end of a contract that he made with Lucy Bieber, of 1492 Harvey Road, last June 4 when he took the money from her, police said.

He was recently arraigned before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman and remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail.
