Man accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend
A local man faces charges after allegedly assaulting a woman who is six and a half months pregnant with his child, according to local police.
Lucas James Haswell, 33, of 412 Anthony St., in Williamsport faces charges of simple assault and harassment.
On May 26, police were called to the Williamsport Regional Medical Center’s emergency room. There, they met with the victim, who explained that she and Haswell had been having ongoing issues.
The victim said she locked the front door. Haswell briefly tried to kick the door in, but ultimately gave up and tried to enter through the back door of the residence, according to reports.
The victim said Haswell managed to break the door open, causing pieces of the door and frame to “go flying,” according to the affidavit.
Haswell entered the residence and allegedly began pushing the victim.
She attempted to retreat, but was unable to get away.
In the affidavit, police allege the woman suffered injuries to her face and head, which either came from Haswell’s fist or pieces of the broken door.
Their struggle allegedly ended in the bedroom, where Haswell is accused of picking up the woman and throwing her against the wall, causing her to injure her head and back.
He then allegedly fled the residence.
Haswell was arraigned before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley on May 27.
He has since been released on $5,000 bail.
