Man returns home and discovers garage on fire

SALLADASBURG – Mifflin Township resident Gary Wasson arrived at home just in the nick of time to discover a small fire in his two-story garage about 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to fire officials.

When volunteer firefighters arrived at Wasson’s property at 6104 Route 287, there was light smoke coming from under the eaves of the structure, Ethan Goodbrod, assistant fire chief for Citizen’s Hose Co., said.

The fire was brought under control in a matter of a minutes. A state police fire marshal is expected to inspect the scene today.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation, but nothing appeared suspicious, Goodbrod said.

Two vehicles in the garage sustained minimal damage, he added.
