Putting dead skunk in mailbox gets 2 fines

BODINES – Two Trout Run area men pleaded guilty Monday to charges that were filed after they stuck a dead skunk in another man’s mailbox in late April, state police said.

Nathaniel Richard Salvatori, 31, of 11613 Rose Valley Road, and Kenneth Earl Fernsler III, 47, of 2020 Upper Bodines Road, pleaded guilty before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman to charges of criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and harassment as a result of the incident.

The skunk was placed in a mailbox along Rose Valley Road in Cascade Township April 28, police said.

Court records made no mention of the motive behind the incident.

Salvatori and Fernsler each made arrangements to pay $1,087 in fines and court costs.

The two men also were sentenced to 30 days in jail, but the sentences were suspended on the condition that they have no further contact with the victim and that they make their payments on schedule.
