State police want to talk to drivers who were forced off road
Any motorist who was forced off the road during last week’s intense high-speed chase involving Millard S. Beatty III is asked to contact the lead investigator in the case, state Trooper Jeffrey A. Vilello at 368-5752.
Beatty, 26, of 637 Grace St., remains incarcerated without bail on numerous charges stemming from the wild June 5 pursuit that started about 7 p.m. in the 1000 block of West Fourth Street in the city and continued north for more than 20 miles through several townships.
Numerous police cruisers took part in the pursuit, which finally ended on a dead-end road off of Route 973 in Mifflin Township, near Salladasburg, where Beatty, disappeared into the woods for the night. He was captured the next afternoon less than three miles from where he abandoned the car, police said.
During the pursuit, he allegedly tried to run over a city police officer near Myers and Windy Ridge roads in Anthony Township, Vilello said.
