Woman accused of stealing from grandparents

JERSEY SHORE – A Walnut Street woman faces charges for allegedly breaking into her grandparents home on South Broad Street and stealing $62 and two beverages, according to the Tiadaghton Valley Regional police.

During the late morning of May 29, Abigail Lee Shade, 27, of 1701 Walnut St., arrived outside her grandparents’ home at 505 S. Broad St., removed her shoes and socks, and then covered her hands with her socks before breaking into the property, police said.

The victims were John and Terry Aurand, police said.

Shade was taken into custody later the same day, carrying a bag that contained the stolen cash and beverages along with some syringes.

Shade admitted that had used heroin earlier the same day, police said.

On probation for simple assault and driving under the influence of intoxicants, Shade was automatically committed to the Lycoming County Prison on a probation violation,

She was arraigned last week before District Judge James Sortman on charges of burglary, felony trespassing, theft, receiving stolen property, public drunkenness and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was recommitted in lieu of $15,000 bail.
