2 area men killed in crashes
Two crashes during the weekend – one in Bradford County and another in Potter County – each claimed the life of a young man, according to state police.
Brandon Joseph Edwards, 26, of Rome, died early Sunday morning shortly after his 2006 Jeep Wrangler struck an embankment and a tree before overturning on Overton Road in Bradford County’s Albany Township, police at the Towanda barracks said.
Edwards was traveling east when he lost control of the vehicle as he was rounding a curve about 2 a.m. He was taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, where he later died of his injuries, police said.
Three other males who were riding in the vehicle also were taken to the hospital for moderate injuries, police said. Their ages and identities were not released.
No one in the Jeep was wearing a seat belt, police said.
In the other accident Jonathan K, Goerner-Sharp, 20, of Lent Hollow Road, Coudersport, was killed when the all-terrain vehicle he was operating went off of Rapley Road in Allegany Township and crashed about 10:45 p.m. Saturday, police at the Coudersport barracks said.
Goerner-Sharp was pronounced dead at the scene by Potter County Deputy Coroner Kenneth Wingo, police said.
