Attorney’s employee charged with theft
MANSFIELD – Jean M. Falluchi, 50, of 1133 Gorwood Road, was charged by borough police with theft and receiving stolen property after she allegedly took more than $100,000 from her employer, Attorney Lawrence B. Mansfield during her employment at his 9 E. Main St., office, between Dec. 10, 2008 and April 11. According to documents filed at District Judge James Carlson’s office, Falluchi deposited 147 checks ranging from $5 to $3,520 totalling $114,759, into her personal bank account, in addition to her weekly pay of $434 and $5 notary fee per notary performed.
Police said Falluchi had two methods of depositing funds into her account. The first was by using the “law office of Lawrence B. Mansfield” business check and paying to the order of J. or Jean Fallucchi.
The second was by using the business slips from the business and paying them to the order of Citizens and Northern Bank, using a deposit slip with her number to deposit to her account.
Mansfield said each time a closing is performed there is a breakdown of each charge for the client. The only charge that normally would be paid to her would be the $5 notary fee. A search warrant is pending approval to obtain personal bank records to verify if funds deposited were used for her personal use. She was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail and waived her preliminary hearing June 26. Her county court arraignment set for July 29.
