City man accused of theft

Joel Thomas Kendall, 40, of 820 Penn St., has been charged with theft by deception and bad checks after allegedly writing two bad checks totaling $879 to Elite Games, 1877 E. Third St., in late February, state police said.

Following his recent arraignment before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman, Kendall was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.

City man accused of theft

Alan Lawson Hatcher, 28, of 827 Park Ave., has been charged with theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing a woman’s cellphone from the Olive Garden, 1825 E. Third St., when he was employed at the business on Feb. 13, state police said.

Police allege Hatcher removed the phone from Ashley Lorson’s jacket pocket.

Following his arraignment last week before District Judge Gary W. Whiteman, Hatcher was released on $2,500 bail.
