Police find assault victim cowering on floor after beating
When police arrived at the scene of an alleged assault Tuesday they said they found a woman in her kitchen, beaten, cowering on the floor and unable to stand.
Robert C. Lentz, 49, of 1013 Dewey Ave., has been charged with simple assault and harassment.
Police were called at about 4 p.m. and found the woman distraught, crying and with multiple injuries including swelling around her head and face and abrasions around her neck where she was wearing a hemp necklace, according to court record.
The woman said she and Lentz had been arguing when he grabbed her necklace and began choking her with it, according to police.
The fight moved into the kitchen where Lentz put a plastic shopping bag over the woman’s head and allegedly threatened to kill her, records state.
According to the affidavit, Lentz then grabbed the woman’s head and beat it off the kitchen cabinets, but eventually she was able to escape and dial for police.
Lentz was arraigned before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley on July 23. He is currently incarcerated in lieu of $10,000 bail.
