Police: Man, 21, burglarized business
A 21-year-old Montoursville man was jailed after he was caught burglarzing his father’s business late Tuesday night, according to borough police.
Michael Z. Neff, of 240 Broad St., was nabbed inside Covenant Builders Inc., 232 Howard St., about 10:40 p.m., Deputy Chief Jason Bentley said.
While inside the building, Neff allegedly entered an area that Michael Deal rents for his business, PA Vending Express, Bentley said. It is alleged that Neff tried to enter a vending truck owned by Deal.
Neff told police he broke into the business because he could not get into his home and needed a place to sleep, Bentley said. On probation for an earlier conviction, Neff was automatically placed in the Lycoming County Prison on a probation violation.
He was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman on charges of burglary, felony trespassing and attempted theft. He was recommitted in lieu of $50,000 bail. Police said the building’s owner was Earl Neff, also of Montoursville.
