29-year-old accused of seriously injuring man

In one of two assault cases, a 29-year-old Muncy area man faces charges for allegedly attacking a man who will “suffer long-term effects” because of the attack, city police were told.

Terry Lynn Styers Jr., of 1377 Mall Road, allegedly punched Christopher Ashlock in the head, knocking him unconscious in the 100 block of West Third Street about 2 a.m. on July 26.

When Justin Vining attempted to help Ashlock, Styers allegedly punched him three times in the face, police said.

Ashlock suffered a concussion, a fractured nose and a bleeding brain injury, police said. A physician said Ashlock would “suffer long-term effects” due to the assault.

Following his arraignment last week before District Judge Allen P. Page III on charges of simple assault and harassment, Styers was released on $1,500 bail.

Also arraigned before Page was Mario Louis Gentzyel, 25, of North Bend, who also was charged with simple assault and harassment for allegedly punching Hugh L. Brown Jr. several times in the face in the 300 block of Pine Street about 3 a.m. on July 21. He too was released on $1,500 bail.
