Man accused of taking wallet
MANSFIELD – Richard R. Barlow, III, 72, of 1094 Old Royd Road, Columbia Cross Roads, was charged by state police after he took someone’s wallet from a counter at Wal-Mart where it had been left accidentally.
According to documents filed at District Judge James Carlson’s office, Barlow was charged with theft and receiving stolen property after he allegedly took a wallet from Caroline M. Camp containing $69 and identification cards after she set it down on the pharmacy counter and accidentally left it behind Sept. 25.
Police said he placed the wallet into his car and put items in it on top of the wallet, then exited the store and put the wallet into his car, and returned to the store to shop. He was captured on video surveillance, police said.
He was issued a summons to appear at a Nov. 20 preliminary hearing.
