Man armed with knife robs store

HUGHESVILLE A man wearing a blue ski mask and armed with a knife is reported to have robbed a female clerk at the Uni-Mart, 1 N. Main St., about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, borough police were told.

The suspect was described as white, at least five feet tall with blond hair. He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, police were told. The clerk was not injured, police said.

Officers were searching Bodine Park, three blocks west of the convenience store, to see if the suspect might have made his way to that area.

It was unknown if any cash was taken in the holdup. A forensic-trained state trooper responded to store and helped with collecting and processing any possible evidence.

This is the second armed robbery involving a knife to occur in the county in three days.

Williamsport police said they are continuing to look for the man who held up a clerk at Hoby’s Hoagies and Pizza, 1229 W. Fourth St., fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash about 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Police believed a butcher knife was pointed at the clerk during the robbery.

The bandit in this case was described as black and medium build.
