Morris woman charged with stealing car

WELLSBORO – Debra L. Lockett, 57, of 1489 Nauvoo Road, Morris, was charged by state police with theft by deception and bad checks after she allegedly stole a car by paying for it with a bad check.

According to documents filed at District Judge Rob Repard’s office, Lockett paid for a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville at Campbell Auto Sales, 2215 Nauvoo Road, Morris, Sept. 5 with a personal check on a closed Northwest Bank savings account.

She was jailed in lieu of $85,000 bail and her preliminary hearing set for Oct. 29.
