30-year-old man accused of stealing more than $1,000 from his mother

WELLSBORO – Eric M. Colegrove, 30, of Apt. C2 Mansfield Village Apartments, Mansfield, was charged by state police after he allegedly stole more than $1,000 from his mother.

According to documents filed at District Judge Rob Repard’s office, Colegrove was charged with access device issued to another who did not authorize use, theft and forgery, for allegedly taking between eight and 15 of his mother’s personal checks and her debit card and using them between May 20 and Sept. 23 to charge $1,091 in purchases, $540 in checks and $562 in debit charges.

Police said Colegrove took the checks and debit card from his mother’s 6109 Bellwood Ave., Charleston Township, residence without her knowledge.

Colegrove’s mother, Melanie Hurley, only found out when she got a letter from her bank stating her account was overdrawn by $1,091.

Police said Colegrove admitted he took them and the debit card from her residence without her knowledge and used them to purchase goods. He was issued a summons to appear at a Dec. 19 preliminary hearing.
