Driver allegedly drunk when he hit gas pumps
An Armstrong Township motorist faces charges for fleeing the scene of an accident in which his pickup truck struck a gasoline pump at Sunoco APlus, 4 East Mountain Ave., while he was intoxicated, South Williamsport police alleged in an affidavit.
“What’s the problem? My truck received all the damage,” 42-year-old Leroy George Bowersox asked borough police when they showed up at his front door at 661 Sylvan Dell Park Road shortly after the crash.
Police allege Bowersox struck a gas pump with his vehicle, and a witness reported it to an employee.
Before leaving, Bowersox purchased gasoline with his debit card, police said.
Charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, accidents involving damage to unattended property (hit-and-run) and careless driving, he has been sent a summons to appear for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman.
