Police: Man robs to support drug addiction
Needing money to buy the painkiller Vicodin on the street, Gordon Loren Emick Jr., 38, of 830 Race St., allegedly stole $2,400 from his employer, R.E. Michael Co., 1699 Frederick Ave., overnight Oct. 12, according to Old Lycoming Township Police Chief William Solomon.
Emick also is accused of taking a $51 business check from the property, Solomon said.
Emick, charged with burglary, felony trespassing, theft and receiving stolen property, has admitted to stealing the money and the check, which he said he destroyed, Solomon said. Emick said he spent $500 to buy Vicodin.
Arraigned before District Judge James H. Sortman, Emick is free on $7,500 bail.
