Accused thief caught inside impound lot
City police nabbed a 30-year-old heroin addict inside their impound lot on West Third Street as he was allegedly attempting to steal batteries from two vehicles, according to court records.
Officers caught Steven Michael Sanso at city property in the 1700 block of West Third Street just before 9 a.m. Oct. 16, according to an affidavit.
Sanso, of 2406 Linn St., admitted to police that he was addicted to heroin and was planning to steal car batteries and sell them to get cash in order to support his drug habit.
Following his recent arraignment before District Judge James Carn on charges of theft and receiving stolen property, Sanso was released on $5,000 bail.
