Man under PFA order tries to buy gun, police say
JERSEY SHORE – A Williamsport man has been charged with making unsworn falsification to authorities when he allegedly recorded inaccurate information on an application when he attempted to purchase a firearm at National Sporting Goods, 1241 Allegheny St., on March 23, according to Tiadaghton Valley Regional Police.
Timothy Wayne Clair, 30, of 420 W. Fourth St., marked “no” for his answer when asked if he was the subject of any court order that would prohibit him from owning a firearm, police said. It turned out that there was indeed a protection from abuse order filed against him and signed by a county judge.
Following his arraignment last week before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley, Clair was released on $15,000 bail.
