Public drunkenness alleged

A 31-year-old man was taken into custody by South Williamsport police early Saturday morning for allegedly resisting arrest and displaying public drunkenness, court documents said.

Justin D. Gleghorn, of 136 S. Market St., allegedly became verbally combative with two police officers when they approached him on the 200 block of S. Market Street for “staggering back and forth from one side of the sidewalk to the other,” according to the affidavit. As one officer tried to test Gleghorn for the presence of intoxicants, he allegedly slapped his hand away and resisted arrest when the officers attempted to handcuff him, police said.

On Dec. 9, Gleghorn is scheduled to appear before District Judge Gary W. Whiteman on charges of resisting arrest, public drunkenness, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The last two charges stem from substances found on Gleghorn following his arrest, police said.
