State College man charged with heroin possession

Jason T. Butler, 30, of 135 Toter Lane, State College, was seen by state police on July 1 as he allegedly made a drug transaction with an unknown male near the Penn Vale Apartments in Loyalsock Township. After the transaction, Butler got into a vehicle operated by a confidential informant who drove them to Sheetz, 330 Westminster Drive, where Butler eventually was picked up, state police said.

After approaching Butler in the Sheetz parking lot, state police found him to be in possession of several “glassine baggies that contained heroin,” as well as a spoon with heroin residue on it, according to an affidavit.

On Oct. 5, Butler was arraigned before District Judge Gary W. Whiteman on charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. He was committed to Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
