3 agree to plea deal for assault charges
JERSEY SHORE – In a plea agreement brought before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley, Timothy L. Jacobs, 37, 2837 Route 44 South, pleaded guilty to a summary disorderly conduct charge after the Tiadaghton Valley Regional Police withdrew a misdemeanor charge of simple assault.
The charges stem from Jacobs and Rebecca L. Peters, 35, of 2836 Cochran Ave., DuBoistown, allegedly assaulting Jacobs’ girlfriend, Susan Fry, in Jacobs’ home on Jan. 10, police said.
The two held Fry down on the floor and punched her several times, police alleged. Jacobs and Peters were arraigned hours later and committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of bail.
As part of his plea agreement, Jacobs, who is on state parole for escape, was released last week from jail and given credit for time served.
Peters has since been released on bail and has waived her preliminary hearing on charges of simple assault and harassment.
In another plea agreement before Lepley, Judy K. Bennett, 56, of 805 Allegheny St., pleaded guilty to summary harassment after Tiadaghton Valley Regional Police withdrew a charge of simple assault.
The charges stem from Bennett allegedly striking her boyfriend, Edward Heaton, at the couple’s home on Dec. 19.
Bennett made arrangements to pay a $50 fine plus court costs.
