Armed-robbery reported at local Pizza Hut

Two masked gunmen forced their way into Pizza Hut, 1729 E. Third St., late Friday night in an apparent robbery, according to a report from state police in Montoursville.

At about 11:20 p.m., shortly after the restaurant had closed for the night, the two robbers forced their way through the rear entrance and held the manager, who was not named in the report, at gunpoint.

After forcing him to open a safe, the gunmen took the cash from inside and fled through the same entrance, traveling in an unknown direction.

It was the third armed robbery in the area within a week.

Last Monday, a masked robber wielding a knife held up the GameStop on Lycoming Mall Road. The next day, an armed gunman also masked robbed a clerk at the Uni-Mart on Market Street in South Williamsport.

No information was available about the physical appearance of the assailants or the amount of money stolen in the most recent robbery. State police had not issued a news release as of press time Saturday night.
