Beech Creek teen found dead
BEECH CREEK – An autopsy was conducted Friday at Mount Nittany Medical Center on the body of Alex Tylor Witherite, 17, of Beech Creek, who was found dead along Beech Creek Thursday.
According to Clinton County Coroner Zach Hanna, the cause and manner of death are pending toxicology results and further investigation by his office and state police.
Witherite was a Sugar Valley Rural Charter School student.
His body was spotted by a pedestrian crossing the steel bridge carrying Route 150. It was found lying partially on the bank and in the water.
State police said they could not confirm reports the victim had been reported missing about a month ago.
The Sugar Valley Rural Charter School canceled classes on Friday and Monday “due to unforeseen circumstances.”
State police returned to the region Friday afternoon and were seen at a residence along Monument Orviston Road around 2 p.m. but declined to comment, stating it is an ongoing investigation.
