Chatham Street shooting ruled accidental
A late-night shooting last Friday in the 200 block of Chatham Street has been ruled accidental, and no charges are expected in the case, city police Agent Raymond O. Kontz III said Wednesday.
The victim, a man in his 20s, continues to recover at a medical center from a gunshot wound to the abdomen he suffered about 10 p.m., Kontz said.
The man’s girlfriend was trying to leave the couple’s apartment with his gun when he grabbed the weapon from her, Kontz said. The gun discharged and the man was wounded, the investigator said.
The woman was removing the gun temporarily from the home for safe keeping when the gun went off, Kontz said.
