City woman accused of stealing cellphone

A city woman is facing theft charges after allegedly stealing a cellphone from a residence where she was staying during the holidays.

Teresa C. Massey, 45, of Williamsport, was staying with Floyd Smith, 55, at his residence, 1734 Randall Circle, Loyalsock Township, between Dec. 24 and 26, according to a report from state police in Montoursville.

It was after this time period that Smith noticed his cellphone was missing. He questioned Massey, who denied having the phone, but it was determined that she had used it to call her daughter, according to the report.

After Smith notified the police, Massey was found to be in possession of the cellphone, which then was returned to Smith.

Misdemeanor theft charges have been filed against Massey through the office of District Judge Gary Whiteman, according to the report.
