Man taken into custody, accused of drug possession, urinating on bus

An intoxicated man was taken into custody on numerous charges after he allegedly urinated on the front of the Cell Block passenger bus in the 100 block of West Third Street about 2 a.m. on Oct. 10, city police said.

Desmond M. Brunson’s alleged actions were witnessed by several people, including the bus driver and patrons on the bus, which gives rides to customers from the establishment, 154 W. Third St., to various locations, police said.

Brunson, 26, of 509 High St. was “very unsteady on his feet, and his eyes were glassy,” an officer said in an affidavit.

When police arrived on the scene, bus driver Jeffrey Hively told them Brunson “just pissed on the front of my bus,” the affidavit said.

Brunson, who was “loud and argumentative,” had 2.6 grams of marijuana in his possession, police said. Officers had to take him to the ground because he put a brief struggle. Charged with resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, he was released and sent a summons to appear before District Judge Allen P. Page III.

However, a bench warrant for Brunson’s arrest was expected to be filed after he failed to appear for a recent preliminary hearing before the judge.
