Mansfield woman charged with bad checks

WELLSBORO – Jordon N. Spohn, 22, of 97 Newtown Hill Road, Mansfield, was charged by state police with a count of bad checks after she allegedly used a check on a closed account in her and her boyfriend’s name to purchase a cell phone from a private seller.

According to documents filed at District Judge Rob Repard’s office, Spohn met up with the seller of an Apple IPhone 4 at the Tops Market, 11 Main St., July 25 to purchase the phone after she saw it advertised for sale on the Tioga County Yard Sale Facebook site.

Police said she gave the seller, Christen R. McCullough of Westfield, a check for $300 made out to McCullough’s boyfriend, Timothy Pettit, and took possession of the phone.

Spohn, who is in Tioga County Prison on another charge, was issued a summons to appear at a Jan. 16 preliminary hearing.
