Police: Drunk, high man threatened 2

After a night out of “getting drunk and high,” Lamar A. Strothers returned home, picked up a knife and threatened his girlfriend and mother, telling them that he was “going to kill himself and everyone else in the world,” city police alleged in an affidavit.

Officers rushed to Strothers’ home about 4:40 a.m. Saturday to investigate a report of a man wielding a knife during a domestic disturbance.

Police allege Strothers threatened his girlfriend, Vanessa Weaver, and his mother, Leslie, with a knife. No one was injured, but both women were very excited and feared for their lives, police said.

The mother said her son was “mentally unstable and that he was going to seriously hurt himself or someone else,” police were told.

“I’m going out with a bang,” Strothers told his mother.

Strothers was taken into custody without incident and arraigned before District Judge Jon E. Kemp on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $300,000 bail.
