Pharmacy technician accused of stealing $600 worth of painkillers

A pharmacy tech at the Weis Market in Montoursville has been arrested on theft and drug charges for allegedly stealing from the store $600 worth of painkillers and other prescriptions that she gave to her friends, according to borough police.

Kelsey Arlene Long, 20, of 6718 Route 973 East, Cogan Station, stole the medications the last five months from the pharmacy at 801 N. Loyalsock Ave., police alleged in court papers.

Charged with theft, receiving stolen property, possession with intent to deliver and delivery of a controlled substance, Long was arraigned last week before District Judge James H. Sortman and initially committed to the Lycoming County Prison, but has since been released on $50,000 bail.
