Man jailed for allegedly raping 13-year-old girl

A 22-year-old man accused of raping a teenager allegedly made inappropriate remarks toward District Judge James Carn during the his arraignment Monday, according to court documents filed at Carn’s office.

The accused, Demetrius L. Williams, was committed to Lycoming County Prison without bail on the grounds that he is a danger to himself and the community.

Williams, who was born in Los Angeles and has no known no current address, allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl in Williamsport Feb. 22, police said.

The victim reported the alleged rape on Feb. 24; and between that date and the time Williams was taken into custody on an arrest warrant, he allegedly sent incriminating remarks to the victim via text messages, according to court papers.

Williams was arraigned on charges of rape, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and retaliation against a victim.

The last charge stems from online posts Williams made in which he allegedly offered to pay someone to hurt the victim, an affidavit said.

He is scheduled to appear before Carn for a preliminary hearing on April 8 at 2:30 a.m.
