Woman allegedly assaults grandmother

A Hughesville woman faces charges for allegedly assaulting her grandmother and a second woman during a domestic disturbance at 3575 Pleasant Valley Road in Hepburn Township about noon on Feb. 14, according to Old Lycoming Township police said.

Police allege Echo Marie Rooker, 29, of 125 N. Second St., grabbed her grandmother’s hair, pulled her to the ground and kicked her. The grandmother was identified as Jean Klotz. Police said Rooker also punched Wendy Ashton in the face. Ashton is the mother of her boyfriend, police said.

Following her arraignment before District Judge Jon E. Kemp on charges of simple assault and harassment, Rooker initially was committed to the Lycoming County Prison, but since has been released on $25,000 bail. She has waived her preliminary hearing.
