Coroner: Homeless man died of beating injuries

READING (AP) – The death of a homeless man brutally beaten in an eastern Pennsylvania laundry has been ruled a homicide.

Berks County coroner Dennis Hess said Wednesday that 49-year-old Robert Mohler died of a head injury he suffered during the assault, which was captured on surveillance video.

Mohler suffered head and internal injuries in the Jan. 11 attack and was treated at a hospital and released. He was found dead approximately a week later.

Reading police said Mohler was sleeping in the back of the laundromat with the owner’s permission because it was cold outside.

People are seen on video entering the business and repeatedly kicking and punching Mohler, leaving and returning to attack him several more times.

Four suspects are charged in the attack. Now they may face murder charges.
