Man arrested for alleged thefts

A Montoursville man is facing felony charges for repeated thefts at Kmart, 1915 E. Third St.

Daniel Jeffrey Springman, 27, of 149 Charles St., allegedly went to Kmart at 4:33 p.m. March 20 and removed electronic security tags from an electronic razor and two boxes of acid reducer with a combined value of $114.57.

Springman concealed the items in his coat and left the store, an affidavit by state police said.

According to the affidavit, Springman’s brother reentered the store approximately 10 minutes later and returned the razor in exchange for a gift card, which he tried to sell to other customers in the store. When no one would purchase the card, he used it to buy a bottle of Pepsi and pack of Marlboro Menthols.

Surveillance video from April 2 allegedly showed Springman in the store for a second time, removing the electronic tags from electronic tooth brushes and an HD radio before leaving the store with the items.

Springman, who had been arrested for theft more than three times, was arraigned before Judge Gary Whiteman and was committed to Lycoming County prison in lieu of a $10,000 bail.
