Man convicted in slaying outside bar
NORRISTOWN (AP) – A man accused of gunning down another man outside a southeastern Pennsylvania bar last year has been convicted of third-degree murder.
Twenty-year-old Maurice Andrews Jr. of Pottstown was convicted Friday in the March 2013 slaying of 27-year-old Victor Baez outside Brian’s Cafe in Pottstown.
The (Pottstown) Mercury reports a Montgomery County jury acquitted Andrews of first-degree murder.
He faces a maximum sentence of 37 to 74 years in prison.
Andrews’ co-defendant, 27-year-old Michael Hinton of Norristown, was convicted in April of first-degree murder and faces a life sentence without possibility of parole.
