South Williamsport man charged with possession of child pornography
Despite his assertion that he “did not possess images or videos of children having sex,” Ronald Joseph Jeselnik, 63, was arraigned Thursday on charges of possession and dissemination of child pornography.
Investigators from the state Attorney General’s Child Predator Unit were able to trace several videos featuring females between the ages of 11 and 13 engaging in sexually explicit acts to a computer at Jeselnik’s home, 319 E. Mountain Ave., in South Williamsport.
The videos had been uploaded to a file-sharing website that investigators believed to contain pornographic pictures and videos of underage children, according to an affidavit.
On May 7, a Supervisory Special Agent with the unit downloaded two videos from the site and confirmed that they featured underage females.
The unit then submitted a court order to Verizon to supply the location of the computer – in the form of its Internet protocol address – from which the upload originated.
A search warrant for Jeselnik’s home and computer was issued Thursday. When asked if the search would reveal child pornography, Jeselnik stated that “it’s a fine line” regarding what is considered child porn, and admitted to looking at such pictures and videos “in the 1980s,” but denied having any on his home computer, according to the affadavit.
However, a search revealed the videos downloaded by the unit, as well as numerous pornographic pictures and videos featuring underage females.
Jeselnik was placed under arrest and charged with 25 counts of possession of child pornography, one count of dissemination of child pornography, and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.
He was arraigned before Judge Gary Whiteman Thursday afternoon and initially committed to the Lycoming County prison in lieu of $35,000 bail, but was released Friday when he made bail.
It was the third arrest for child porn in two days in Lycoming County.
Matthew Manning, 39, of 401 W. Academy St., and Perry L. Bassler, 62, of 468 Lycoming Mall Drive, were arrested in unrelated cases Wednesday and also charged with possession and dissemination of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility.
