A former secretary at a Newberry business has been arrested on charges of allegedly stealing $17,000 from the firm by forging 43 checks from three bank accounts, according to city police.
Amanda Marie Long, 32, of 1025 Lower Bodines Road, Trout Run, is alleged to have stolen the money from Broder Magic, 101 Arch St., between May 9 and June 20,, Agent Ronald L. Bachman said in an affidavit.
Long wrote and forged 28 of the checks to herself, seven to her boyfriend and eight checks to three other people, Bachman alleged.
Already on state parole, Long cashed most of the checks at United Check Cashing on Hepburn Street, Bachman said.
